Tears don't discriminate!!! Historically, suicide rates in India have shown a higher prevalence among men. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) of India, in 2019, the total number of suicides in India was 1,39,123, out of which 1,00, 674 were men and 38,449 were women. This means that men accounted for around 72% of the total suicides in India that year. To provide more detailed statistical data, the suicide rate among men in India was 16.5 per 100,000 population, while the suicide rate among women was 7.7 per 100,000 population. The highest suicide rate among men was observed in the age group of 30-44 years, while the highest suicide rate among women was observed in the age group of 15-29 years.
